Between the Winter Olympics and whatever daily "breathtaking" political story of the day was, it may have skipped by your attention, but actor John Mahoney, most notably the guy who gave us "Martin Crane" on NBC's long-running sitcom "Frasier," passed away at the age of 77.
Mahoney really had some acting chops (and won a Tony Award to boot) and the deft writing on "Frasier" gave him a lot of opportunity to flex his skill. For me, it was a show I could (and did, often) watch again and again from start to finish. Fantastic ensemble and crafty writing.
And thus, with his passing, it would seem that reunion I was hoping for will pass, as well. It's been more than 13 years since the last episode aired, so I realize that idea had probably long ago sailed, but no one ever shut the door on the idea, completely.
Fitting then, that Mahoney gets the last say; ol' Marty Crane would've been bashful and modest at the notion of celebrating a return to glory like that anyhow, right?
