Over 370,000 Without Power In NC As Florence Moves In

The power outage totals in North Carolina surpassed the 300,000 mark Friday morning according to state officials.

At 7 a.m., NC Emergency Management reported 372,095 statewide power outages.

Outages started popping up when heavy rain and strong winds from Hurricane Florence arrived later in the day Thursday. The highest numbers were in New Hanover County, which hosts Wilmington.

Here are some of the power outage numbers from the state's coastal counties as of 6:20 a.m., per Duke Energy:

  • New Hanover County - 76,056
  • Carteret County - 24,470
  • Craven County - 15,155
  • Onslow County - 13,813
  • Pender County - 10,653
  • Brunswick County - 7,323
