Katy Perry Calls Out Trump Over 'Heartless Response' to California Fires

On Friday (November 9) President Trump made some insensitive remarks about the wildfires that have completely destroyed Paradise and took the lives of at least 23 people in the Northern part of the state and are wreaking havoc in Southern California, causing the evacuation of more than 250,000 people.

"There is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly forest fires in California except that forest management is so poor," the president tweeted. "Billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests. Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!"

The next day, Katy Perry clapped back. "This is an absolutely heartless response," she wrote, replying to the tweet. "There aren’t even politics involved. Just good American families losing their homes as you tweet, evacuating into shelters."

Before calling out the president, the pop star sent a positive message to those affected by the devastation. "There’s a lot of unknowns tonight... but what we do know is we are here for you and as a community we will help in any way possible," she wrote. "Immense gratitude to all the brave first responders out there putting their lives on the line for so many families."
