Carrie Underwood's Husband Mike Fisher Is Officially An American Citizen

It's official: Carrie Underwood's husband, Mike Fisher, is an American citizen.

On Thursday (March 21), the former NHL star took to Instagram Story to make the big announcement alongside a photo for him holding an American flag in a courtroom. "Big day I'm officially American," the 38-year-old star captioned the shot. Fisher was born and raised in Canada, and drafted by the Ottawa Senators in 1999. Just a few years after he met the American Idol champ, he was traded to the Nashville Predators in 2011. He announced his retirement from the sport in 2017, returning for a final season and playing his last game in 2018. Fisher and Underwood recently welcomed the birth of their second child, Jacob, in late January. He joins their 4-year-old son, Isaiah.

Earlier this week, Underwood announced that their family had grown once again via Instagram. "Every cowboy needs a horse...and a hat. I'm still working with him on the Southern accent. Meet Bojangles... the newest addition to the Fisher family!" the singer captioned a shot of Fisher and the new horse.

Back in February, it was reported that the country titan had listed her Tennessee home on the market for $1.45 million, per Variety. According to the industry outlet, she purchased the "Italian-style villa" for $1.35 million in 2007 prior to marrying Fisher in 2010. Built in 2000, the 7,038-square-foot, four bedroom home is in a gated golf course community and features a number of amenities, including a two-story entry with a curved staircase, formal dining room, and living room. However, it comes with some eerie memories for Underwood, considering the country queen suffered that scary face accident, which prompted her to receive 40-50 stitches to her face and surgery for a broken wrist. "They are completely done with the neighborhood. The decision came after her fall," the source told PEOPLE, adding that security issues also contributed to their decision. "They've been having a lot of issues with neighbors letting people in the community to look around and it all escalated after the fall."
