Ariana Grande Honors Mac Miller On 6th Anniversary Of Their Song 'The Way'

2016 MTV Video Music Awards - Republic Records After Party

Ariana Grande paid a heartfelt tribute to Mac Miller by remembering their timeless duet.

Monday (March 25) brought back bittersweet memories for the Sweetener singer, who celebrated the 6-year anniversary of her smash single "The Way" by honoring the rapper, whose added wordplay made the collaboration even catchier when it climbed the Billboard Hot 100 chart in its 2013 debut.

"Six years," Grande captioned a post on her Instagram Stories in Miller's memory with a white heart emoji. In another image, this time with the pop star posing with lyricist's pet pooch, Myron," she wrote, "Real protective with my soullll where YOUUUUUU been."

In September 2018, Miller died of an accidental drug overdose as a result of "mixed drug toxicity" at age 26. The musicians had previously ended their two-year relationship just four months prior, with the "Thank U, Next" star citing the "Self Care" emcee's troubles with substance abuse playing a role in their unfortunate split.

Just a week prior to making the posts, the "7 Rings" vocalist used the opening night of her "Sweetener World Tour" in Albany, New York to remember her departed sweetheart as well. While performing at Union Center on March 18, Grande played some of Miller's tracks like "Dang!" as a homage.
