Mariah Carey got a head start on a special milestone with a powerful performance of a throwback hit during the American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special on Sunday (October 6).

After an introduction by R&B powerhouse Jennifer Hudson that included clips from Carey's various appearances on the show throughout the years, the 10-time AMA winner returned to the stage for a stunning performance of "We Belong Together," from her album The Emancipation of Mimi, which turns 20 next year.

Standing in front of a giant glittering pink letter M and wearing a gorgeous black and white gown, Carey let her iconic voice do all the work as she sang the fan-favorite track, with the audience singing along as she belted out her wish for her "baby" to "come back 'cause we belong together."

The AMA's 50th Anniversary Special also included a stunning tribute to Whitney Houston by Hudson and Gladys Knight returning to the AMA stage 50 years after her first performance, among other performances.

In addition to her AMA's performance, Carey is getting ready to embody her other persona as the Queen of Christmas. However, she is making things clear that, while people may be eagerly anticipating the holiday season, it's not quite here yet, sharing a hilarious video from a private jet looking to take a trip to the North Pole. Like previous years, the "All I Want For Christmas" singer will be sure to let fans know just when "it's time" to defrost and ring in the season.

For the fans that can't wait to celebrate the holidays, Carey is preparing to hit the road for her Mariah Carey's Christmas Time tour, which kicks off next month and celebrates the 30th anniversary of her Merry Christmas album.
