Military Appreciation Day in Clemson

I almost didn't go to Clemson this weekend just because I had a long week, but then I couldn't bring myself to miss Military Appreciation Day in Death Valley. Needless to say, I'm glad I went because it's always my favorite game of the entire year.

The entire stadium wears purple, they do an amazing flyover, parachute in the mascot and the American flag, recognize our heroes all throughout the game, and it's just generally an amazing day.

This year, though, when they asked all veterans and active military down to the field for halftime, they had them hold up 493 gold stars for the 493 Clemson alumni who "have made the supreme sacrifice in the service of their country." If that doesn't get you a little teary-eyed, you may want to get checked out.
