Barbie's goal is to ensure all girls are represented within their brand; in size, body shape, ethnicity, and physical abilities.
Two more dolls were added to the Fashionista Collection who have disabilities, one with a wheelchair and the other with a prosthetic leg.
To create a more realistic wheelchair and prosthetic, Mattel worked with their Children's Hosptial at UCLA for design inspiration.
The Fashionista Collection will also feature dolls with, " deeper skin tones, more realistic body types as well as various hair textures."
